Happy 73rd Republic Day

Social media have became one of very important part of our lives these days, we come across lots of important and unimportant things through social media… Today I got a message which I remember my history teacher taught us in school days ….

“Hoist” and “Unfurl” the Tiranga”.

There is a difference between hoisting a flag on Independence day and Republic Day, basically we do not hoist our tricolour on Republic Day- we unfurl it. On Independence Day, the Indian tricolour is tied at the bottom of the flag pols and then pulled up for hoisting. This is to symbolise the struggle for independence of our country from the British Rule. On the other hand on Republic Day “26th January” India became an independent republic, thus the flag is already tied up on the top of the pole and is unfurled without pulling it up.

Thanks
